Simon C.F. Yu is a New York City–based director, editor, photographer, and musician who has produced hundreds of videos for musicians since 2010. His passion for music and video began early, as he was born in a family of musicians and film directors in Hong Kong; this early immersion in art inspired him to become a specialist working in both fields.

As a musician, Yu has toured as lead guitarist with Grammy Award–winning hip-hop icon Lauryn Hill and performed with various artists in prestigious venues and festivals around the world, such as the Mohegan Sun Arena, Blue Note Jazz Club, Bowery Ballroom, Music Hall of Williamsburg, House of Blues Chicago, First Avenue Minneapolis, Shanghai MISA Festival, Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival, Asian Pacific American Heritage Festival, and others.

As a video director and editor, he worked on two Grammy-winning projects: 2013 Best R&B Performance with Snarky Puppy featuring Lalah Hathaway and 2023 Best Classical Compendium with Imani Winds. Additionally, he worked on three Grammy-nominated projects: Miho Hazama's Dancer In Nowhere in 2020, House of Waters' On Becoming in 2023, and Shucked 2023.

Yu has done work for HBO Latin America, Vogue Taiwan, Berklee College of Music, Manhattan School of Music, GroundUP Music, Concord Records, Sony, Element Music, Hudson Horns, 45 Riots, and several award-winning artists in New York City.

As an educator, Yu started teaching at Berklee NYC in 2020 and he also authored Berklee Online's music video production course.

"My students will get the full experience of creating their music videos, from conceptualization and pre-production to filming and post-production, with access to digital cameras and lighting equipment provided on campus."
